I'll ask you lots of questions about your business, so I can understand what's going on and how you want to take things forward. We'll start to look at some ideas, and you'll be able to see if I'm the right person to help you.
Recently, I've been talking to a 12 person company about developing a different organisational structure based on learning and skill sharing, someone who's work has been in the public sector and how she needs to move away from that in the light of public funding cuts, and someone else who wanted to know if they should buy an existing business.
Is it confidential?
Of course. Absolutely.
Do I have to become a client after this?
No. In fact, meeting for a coffee and a chat is the perfect way for both of us to work out if we want to work together. I'm completely honest with people as to whether working with me will be a good investment of their time and money, and I tell about 20% of people I meet this way that they don't need me.
I do ask that if you're not serious about getting help with your business, please don't tell me that you are, just to pick my brains. Have a look at how business support/mentoring works (and what it costs) before getting in touch.
What sort of businesses do you help?
I work with lots of different businesses, which is part of the reason why I love my work so much. You might be a one person business who wants to take on staff/freelancers and grow, or you might already have a team and want to make it to the next stage.
There's no particular industry where I specialise, although I do have a lot of experience in the online/digital world. You're going to know more about your particular industry than I do, my speciality is knowing how businesses work and how to make decent money. Have a look at my client list, to get an idea of who I've worked with in the past.
Here are a couple of typical situations, if there is any such thing as a typical business I help
What if I'm based outside of London/Brighton?
We can have an initial chat over the phone, and then you might want to book in for a one off strategy session which will give you a clear plan of the way forward without you having to be in Brighton or London for regular sessions.
I'm interested, but I'm not sure yet
That's fine, lots of people think about it for a while. Why don't you stay in touch and get to know me better, by subscribing to the email newsletter, following me on twitter or getting the blog, Julia Talks by RSS/email.
