Brighton's Online Networking Groups

Networking online is one way of getting to know business people, and more and more people are meeting up this way. Online networking groups are a good way of finding out about people that you've maybe met at a face to face group, as they're often informal and blog based. Meeting up with people that you've read about online can be great as well, because you've got some background information about them and know if you've got something in common with them.

However, don't fall into the trap of only talking to people online, or just observing and not being part of the interaction. Do get out there and meet people in the flesh, and do interact online as well. Life is for living, not just reading about - and you'll only be part of the community if you take part.

Brighton Networking

Green Icon

Paul Turner has set up Brighton Networking to bring together Brighton's business community online. The site has only very recently been set up, but it's already gaining momentum, and I've been able to get back in touch with some people I haven't seen for a while.

Brighton Networking gives you great opportunities to tell the world (or Brighton) about what you're doing, especially as it's based on Ning, a technology which allows you to put up videos, blogs, comments, as well as a profile that tells everyone about you.

Ecademy - The Brighton Gathering

Ecademy generally is very active for networking, although it can be a little addictive for some people, to the extent that you wonder how they get any actual work done. There's a specific Brighton ecademy group, facilitated by Clare Evans, a great time management coach, and a great networker.

Suggestions

If you have examples of online Brighton networking groups, please let me know your suggestions, remember what I said about being interactive.
