Seth Godin

This article about being remarkable was in part inspired by The Purple Cow by Seth Godin, which I recommend as a great inspirational marketing book. By that I don't mean the pap that you get in airport bookshops, but a book that truly does inspire by making you think about how you do business.

We need you

Here at the Joy of Business I need someone to help me write up action plan reports for some of my clients.

Here's the deal:

A couple of times a week, I need someone to accompany me to see small business clients. This person will take notes through the meeting. After the meeting, they will write up the notes in a specific format and send them to me for checking. This needs to be done 3 working days after the meeting.

Two to three weeks after the meeting, this lovely helpful person will phone the client and see how they're getting on with the actions we discussed at the meeting and then do another much more brief report on this, again in a specific format.

The client meeting will take around 2 hours, and it takes me about 1.5 hours to write up the two reports.

What it pays and other contractual stuff

I'll be paying £40 per report as a fixed fee. Travel time and travel expenses are not included. Most of the clients are in Brighton, or in Sussex, and the meetings are generally at the client's offices or home.

The helpful person will be working on a self employed basis and will be paid at the end of each month on production of an invoice. They will be dealing with highly confidential client information and will be required to keep all such information confidential in perpetuity.

Who would this suit?

This would be great experience for someone who has studied business and wants to learn more about the world of small business. It would also be great experience for someone who is thinking about running a small business at some point in their career and wants to see how other people do things.

The successful person will be good at:

Quickly understanding complex information

Writing in easily understood plain english

Understanding the issues faced by small businesses

How to apply

I need you to email me a cv and a covering letter which explains why you think you would be good at this and what benefits it would bring you in your future career.
